Hard Drive 500gb S2 7.2k Western Digital Xl320

Hard Drive 500gb S2 7.2k Western Digital Xl320 Rating: 4,7/5 4050 reviews

Western Digital hard drives out perform other brands. This one is no exception. It installed easily and it was super smooth to get set up and Windows installed. It is noticeably faster than my old hard drive of 5400 rpm in bringing up files and programs. (I am comparing this to when the old hard drive was new). I would recommend Western Digital over any other manufacturer.

In my experience they also have a much longer life span. My external hard drive is also a Western Digital. I give it five stars all around. My system was shutting down, intermittently. I suspected that I was having hard drive issues.

That was confirmed when I couldn't boot any longer and got the Blue Screen of Death. Tech Support was very helpful in pinpointing and confirming that the issue was my hard drive.

I was told that the new drive that I am purchasing was a exactly the same as my original drive. It wasn't, but it is equivalent to my original. My original was a Seagate. The drive I was sent is a Western Digital. Easy installation and set-up. The drive is performing, as expected, since I received it, about two weeks, ago.

Maybe it's just me, but I am very literal person. If you say 'exactly,' then I am expecting 'exactly.' A better word might have been 'equivalent.' All in all, it was one of the better Tech Support/Customer Service experiences with any company.

This was partially my own issue on researching the product as I was upgrading my hard drive on our desk top. I've done this before but had always had a long ribbon cable for it not the SATA connection. This is a SATA drive which comes to you bare bones nothing but the hard drive. This took a lot of research to install this into the computer as well as a purchase of a SATA cable for another $7. Had to learn about the connection through internet searches and go into the BIOS which was another learning experience. If you have a SATA Drive this would have not been an issue if you have the older drive with the long ribbon cable this will probably not be a plug and play. Now that I got it installed it works great and going from 40 GB to 500 will hold my wife's massive amount of pictures she takes.
